Job Title: Producer
Location: Emerald Street, Holborn, London / WFH
Contract Type: 6 months Fixed Term
Term: Full-Time, 09:30-18:00
Start Date: ASAP
Reports to: Executive Producer
Direct Line Reports: N/AAs Novel continues to grow a slate of longform narrative podcast series, we are looking for an audio producer with a proven track record of leading on longform serialised narrative podcasts.
Successful candidates will be experienced with the various workflows over the course of a longform series. We’re looking for team players but also producers who can show they have an independent drive, managing productions that are pushed along to hit deadlines whilst maintaining the necessary space for care and attention to detail. A track record of organising feedback sessions in big and small teams - running group listening, collating and then implementing feedback is essential.
If you fit the bill and are interested in a role in which you will be an integral part of Novel’s production team working on a major international project then please do get in touch. You’ll be joining a rapidly growing company packed with creative programme makers, sound designers and experienced executive producers who’ll be on hand to help you craft groundbreaking podcast series.
It is obvious the podcast industry needs to change and become more diverse. We are therefore particularly keen to hear from applicants that are underrepresented in the industry, such as those from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic backgrounds or those with disabilities.

Senior Development Producer
We're looking for an ideas specialist. A pitching machine. For the right person, this could be a senior role. But we’re happy to hear from others who may lack the seniority – but have the ideas.
To apply, please send your CV to jobs@novel.audio, including the one-word phrase ‘devjob’ so your application doesn’t get mislaid in our inbox.About Us
Here at Novel, we take Development seriously. Podcasts are booming globally, and we’re at the forefront of the British Invasion: every month we sell big narrative show ideas to big American companies like iHeart, Wondery, Gimlet and Audible.
We’re so good at this that we’re now the largest independent UK audio company with 45 staff, and over 30 shows in production. Almost every one began life in our five-person Development department.
The range of work is astonishing: from true crime to high-end arts docs. From the likes of Harsh Reality – our US #1 Wondery show about a doomed reality TV star, to the BBC Radio 4 pointy-head stuff of Sideways with Matthew Syed. We’re the first UK company to bag a slate deal with iHeart, and the first to make a show with Gimlet.
2022 will see us doubling our ambitions again.
What We're Looking For
Someone who can keep pace. An ideas specialist. A pitching machine. Someone who can smash it in terms of coming up with new shows, be those:
- Narrative shows
- Always-on shows
- Quest-structured shows
- Chat shows
- Historical shows
- Pop culture shows
- Live investigation shows
- Shows that last 3 eps
- Or shows that go on forever
Coming up with great hooks, great stories, and great talent ideas. Be it an investigative mini-series about the dark side of international aid, or an oral history of Don’s Plum.
What You Can Expect
- A competitive salary
- Bupa private medical insurance
- Life insurance
- Income protection
- Pension
- Season ticket loan
- Ride to work scheme
- 23 days of holiday per year, plus bank holidays and Christmas break
